Description of Services

Serving the greater Austin and surrounding areas, Pillar To Post is the "Home Of Home Inspections". On-Site printed reports, digital pictures and our exclusive inspection binder with additional items.

In April of 2002 Marvin Lewis TREC 6024 and Steve Nunley TREC 6056 retired from one of the highly noted technology based companies, started SAMS Professional Inspections Inc (dba Pillar To Post) in Austin and purchased the Pillar To Post Austin franchise area. Since then we have applied our previous construction knowledge from earlier construction related businesses with our customer relations experience gained from working in the high end computer industry and built a team of knowledgeable, courteous, full-time and detail oriented inspectors that are proud to serve you with your home purchase, home sale, investment purchase or warranty inspection needs. From the beginning, we have required our inspectors to carry E & O Insurance, now the Texas Real Estate Commission requires mandatory coverage as of 9/1/07, nice to know we are 5 years ahead of our time in this area of the business and others.

Pillar To Post is one of only a few "preferred or approved" suppliers for national real estate chains like:
Keller Williams
RE/MAX
EXIT Realty

What is a Home Inspection?
A pre-purchase home inspection, performed by a Pillar To Post Professional, is a visual examination of the readily accessible areas of the home to provide an accurate as possible evaluation of the home's condition at the time of the inspection.
Home inspections in Texas are designed to disclose defects in the property that could materially affect its safety, function of major systems and structure or sometimes, maintenance items needed to help prevent a minor problem from developing into a major problem, example: Caulk and seal around windows to reduce possible moisture intrusions.

Inspections are not meant to disclose cosmetic items like paint nicks, minor drywall hole etc. Think of the inspection like a general medical checkup, if there are symptoms of issues, your doctor might refer you to a specialist, the same with your inspector, he might refer you to have a qualified contractor review the issue to see if the problem is "skin deep" or more extensive.

Our inspectors do like to use a moisture meter during the home inspection process, though not required by Texas for a home inspection, we have used these since 2002 to help detect the presence of moisture that might not be detectable by the human eye in those areas of the home that are prone to have moisture issues, around plumbing pipes, windows, doorways, or simply checking that spot on the ceiling to see if there is active moisture.
